Fancy a few days of great riding with the Moselle as your home base? Set off from Ediger-Eller and you can wind past vineyards and riverside villages, climb into the Eifel hills or head for the open roads of the Hunsrück. When you get back, the family-run Moselromantik-Hotel “Zum Löwen” is the kind of place where you can settle in and swap stories from the road.

A biker’s welcome, right down to the garage

Chef and host Kurt Saffenreuther rides a motorcycle himself, so he knows what makes a stop feel easy after a day in the saddle. Your bike can stay free of charge in the hotel garage, which has room for around 20 motorcycles. There’s also a space for minor repairs and a wash area with a pressure washer if your bike needs a little attention before the next ride.

Pick a direction and enjoy the ride

Follow the Moselle one day, take the bends through the Eifel the next, then explore the Hunsrück. With Cochem on one side and Zell on the other, “Zum Löwen” makes a handy base for motorcycle tours around Ediger-Eller. You can even plan a longer day out towards the Nürburgring. Good food and a view at the end of the day

Once the bike is tucked away, grab a seat on the sun terrace overlooking the Moselle and the Calmont vineyard. Kurt cooks with fresh, seasonal ingredients, serving regional favourites that include game from the Eifel and Hunsrück forests. Add a glass of Moselle Riesling, and there’s no need to rush anywhere.

Later, head up to your comfortable room for a good night’s rest. Tomorrow, the roads are yours again.
